The AAAS Martin and Rose Wachtel Cancer Research Award is an annual award, funded by an endowment established through a generous bequest from Martin L. Wachtel, which honors early-career investigators who have performed outstanding work in the field of cancer research.
This year's winner is Dr. Karin Pelka, Assistant Investigator at Gladstone Institutes and assistant professor in the Department of Microbiology and Immunology at UCSF. Dr. Pelka will deliver her lecture titled "Spatially Organized Immune Hubs in Colorectal Cancer" virtually via Webex hosted by the National Cancer Institute/National Institutes of Health on June 13, 2025 from 12:00pm - 1:00pm (EDT). The award-winner's essay will be published in Science Translational Medicine the week of the award ceremony.
