The AAAS Martin and Rose Wachtel Cancer Research Award is an annual award, funded by an endowment established through a generous bequest from Martin L. Wachtel, which honors early-career investigators who have performed outstanding work in the field of cancer research.
This year's winner is Moran Amit, a Surgeon-Scientist in the Department of Head and Neck Surgery and the Department of Genomic Medicine at MD Anderson Cancer. Dr. Moran will deliver his lecture titled "Cancer’s Nerve: how tumors hack the nervous system, and how we take it back" at AAAS Headquarters in Washington,DC on October 9th, 2026 from 3:30pm - 6:00pm (EDT). The award-winner's essay will be published in Science Translational Medicine the week of the award ceremony.
Following the lecture join us from 5:00pm - 6:00pm for a light reception celebrating our 2026 winner.
